For The Love Of Dogs

We are a cat shelter, but we love to help dogs too! Below is a bit of information on Camp Barry (our puppy foster) & Dogs of Del Norte (our volunteers for Del Norte County Animal Services).

We have a local family who is doing amazing things for rescue! The Barry Family has taken in and fostered 43 puppies in 2019. These are puppies that have been found abandoned, surrendered to the pound, or surrendered to us. They have been fostered by Camp Barry until they are old enough to be spayed or neutered and ready for adoption.

Rhonda, Gregg, Matt, and Kayla work very hard at Camp Barry in order to provide a safe, loving, nurturing environment for the puppies until they find a forever home. Camp Barry gives a lot of attention to puppy social skills, positive reinforcement, potty training, crate training, and so much more, all while treating them as part of the Barry family! Each pup is taught skills that can be taken with them when they find forever families.

Featured is a photo of "Babs" (currently available for adoption), Fifi, and Elmyra (adopted). You will also see a photo collage of a few of Camp Barry's past fosters. Visit Camp Barry online to find info on all puppies ready for adoption!

Camp Barry’s Jars for Paws Program is going strong as they continue to “Spread the Love” with homemade jams (some with a jalapeno or habanero kick), pickles, fruit, and apple butter prepared by Rhonda, Kayla, and Matt Barry with 30% of the proceeds donated to us. You can get these delicious products by reaching out on Facebook or look for Camp Barry at some of the community’s events.  You will soon be able to order online at www.campbarry.org  😊

Dogs of Del Norte is a group of dedicated volunteers at our local dog pound who want nothing more than to get the dog pound dogs into loving homes! Dogs posted here are NOT at our shelter. Contact info for the County Dog Pound is listed below the dog bios.

The volunteers walk dogs daily, giving as much playtime and love as possible. They have also been known to fundraise or personally pay for some of the dogs to be spayed or neutered.

Volunteers network the dogs through Facebook, Petfinder, and other shelters in hopes that someone will find their perfect pooch! Feel free to follow the links to see more adoptable dogs.

BLUEY

Meet Bluey!
This young adult is a high energy mix who is always looking for something to do! Bluey has been at the Pound for almost a year. He can be a little mouthy in his play style, so we recommend he go to a home without young children. He loves his time outside the kennel and comes out like a little fireball, ready to go, go, go! He needs an active lifestyle, some training, and a job! He is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs 46 lbs. Bluey gets along with some dogs but seems to prefer the ladies. No cats or small livestock for this guy. Interested in meeting this spunky guy? Reach out to Del Norte County Animal Services for more information.
