Volunteer

The Humane Society of Del Norte is run completely by volunteers!
We appreciate our volunteers and we are very lucky to have the
help that we need from people who care as much as we do.

We are always in need of volunteers. Our shelter volunteers are responsible for the day to day cleaning, feeding, grooming, and socializing of our shelter cats and kittens. This commitment is one day a week (morning or evening) and can take 1 - 3 hours.

We would also love to have volunteers that are willing to help us with special events.
Our events include the Farmer's Market, County Fair, Relay for Life, and other community events.

If you are interested in transporting dogs and cats to spay/neuter clinics, we could use your assistance.

To find out more about volunteering, please call (707) 464-1686.

Fostering

We are often in need of foster families for dogs and cats.
Foster homes are used for temporary placement of dogs that have been diverted from the pound while we are in search of furever homes. Foster homes are also used for kittens that may need to be bottle-fed.

If you are interested in becoming a foster, fill out the Foster Application and return it to us.
We will contact you if we have a need that is a good match for your home.
